The Department of Physics at the University of Kamalia is dedicated to advancing knowledge in fundamental and applied physics through excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.
The department focuses on developing strong analytical, problem-solving, and scientific skills among students, preparing them for careers in research, education, engineering, and emerging technological fields.
With a curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical experimentation, students gain hands-on experience in laboratories, computational tools, and modern scientific techniques.
The department also encourages critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary collaboration to address real-world challenges in areas such as energy, materials science, space science, and advanced technologies.
Dr. Sarmad Masood Shaheen earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. Specializing in Theoretical Physics, his work focuses on exploring the fundamental principles of nature through advanced mathematical and conceptual frameworks. As an Assistant Professor, he is actively involved in teaching, research, and mentoring students in the field of modern physics.
Dr Ejaz Ahmad Khera’s research is centered on computational materials science with a focus on density functional theory (DFT)-based investigations of electronic, optical, thermoelectric, and structural properties of novel materials. His primary interest lies in characterizing double perovskites (DPs), Heusler alloys, and vacancy-ordered compounds for use in solar cells, memory storage, brain-inspired neuromorphic systems, and energy harvesting applications. Using simulation tools like VASP, CASTEP, and Wien2k, he studies materials such as Ga₂PtX₆, Li₂ATlCl₆, and Na₂PtX₆ for their optoelectronic and thermoelectric performance. His recent publications explore halogen modification, spin polarization, and hybrid perovskites for sustainable technologies.
